Bitcoin Cash (BCH) QR Code Generator

Make a QR code for your Bitcoin Cash address, with an optional BCH amount that wallets fill in for the payer. The address checksum is verified in your browser before the code is drawn.

CashAddr address starting with q or p (the bitcoincash: prefix is optional). Its checksum is verified here.

Leave it empty and the payer enters the amount. With an amount, the code becomes a payment link that most wallets fill in for them.

Double-check the address and network — payments can’t be reversed.

What a Bitcoin Cash QR code is

A Bitcoin Cash QR code is a static QR code that stores a Bitcoin Cash receiving address — preferably in the CashAddr format starting with bitcoincash:q or p — optionally with an amount, so a wallet can scan it and fill in the payment details.

Paste a Bitcoin Cash address and you get a code any BCH wallet can scan. Add an amount and the code becomes a payment request in the bitcoincash: format: the payer’s wallet opens with your address and the amount filled in, and they only have to confirm.

The generator verifies the checksum before drawing anything — the CashAddr checksum for bitcoincash: addresses, and Base58Check for older 1… and 3… addresses. A mistyped or missing character fails the check, so a broken address never makes it onto a printed sign. The check runs in your browser and the address is never uploaded.

How to create a Bitcoin Cash QR code

  1. 01

    Get a CashAddr address

In your wallet, open Bitcoin Cash and tap Receive; current wallets show a CashAddr address starting with bitcoincash:q (some hide the prefix and show just q…). On an exchange, open Deposit, choose BCH, and check that the network is Bitcoin Cash.

  2. 02

    Paste it into the generator

Paste the address with or without the bitcoincash: prefix; the code always includes it, which is how wallets expect to read it. If you have a legacy 1… or 3… address, it will work, but see below why CashAddr is the safer choice.

  3. 03

Add an amount, if you want one

Enter an amount in BCH for a fixed price or invoice. Leave it empty for donations and tips, so the payer decides how much to send.

  4. 04

    Download and test it

Download the PNG or SVG, scan it with a Bitcoin Cash wallet, and check that the address and amount it shows are right. You do not have to send anything to test.

Bitcoin Cash address formats

  • bitcoincash:q… — CashAddr, single key

The standard format for ordinary wallet addresses. The bitcoincash: prefix and the lowercase body make it impossible to mistake for a Bitcoin address, and its checksum catches typos.

  • bitcoincash:p… — CashAddr, script

Multisig and other script addresses start with p. They are just as valid for receiving and fine to put in a code.

  • 1… and 3… — legacy

Before CashAddr, Bitcoin Cash used exactly the same address format as Bitcoin. The generator accepts these addresses, but a sender looking at one cannot tell which coin it is meant for — and BTC sent to a BCH-only wallet, or the other way round, is very hard to recover. If your wallet can show CashAddr, use it.

  • Amounts in the code

With an amount, the code holds a link like bitcoincash:ADDRESS?amount=0.05. Amounts are in BCH, not satoshis. Most BCH wallets fill it in, and the payer can still change it before sending.

  • Reusing one address

Bitcoin Cash transactions are public, so anyone with the address can see every payment it receives. A printed donation code is fine; for invoices, a fresh address from your wallet each time keeps your history more private.

Where a Bitcoin Cash QR code helps

  • A sign at a shop counter or market stall that accepts BCH
  • Invoices with the amount already set
  • Tip jars for musicians and street performers
  • Donation buttons for blogs and open-source projects
  • Stream overlays and video descriptions
  • Moving BCH from a wallet to your exchange account

Prefer a CashAddr address (bitcoincash:q… or p…). A legacy 1… or 3… address looks exactly like a Bitcoin address, which invites people to send the wrong coin.

Never put a private key or recovery phrase in a QR code. A receiving address is the only thing a payer needs.

Bitcoin Cash payments cannot be reversed. If a printed code is swapped for someone else’s, money sent to it is gone — place it where it cannot be covered, check it now and then, and print the address next to it.

This site does not hold BCH, connect to your wallet, or see payments. It makes the image and nothing else.

Questions about this

Copy the CashAddr address from your wallet, paste it above, optionally add an amount in BCH, and download the code. Scan it once before sharing it.

Yes. Enter an amount and the code uses the bitcoincash: payment format, so the payer’s wallet opens with the amount filled in. They can still edit it before sending.

Yes, the generator accepts it. It is still a good idea to switch to CashAddr, because a legacy address cannot be told apart from a Bitcoin address and senders may pay you in the wrong coin.

With a CashAddr address, Bitcoin wallets refuse to send because the format is not theirs. With a legacy address the transaction can go through on the Bitcoin network, and getting it back depends on whether you control the same keys in a Bitcoin wallet.

If a character is wrong or missing, the checksum fails and the generator shows an error instead of a code. A valid address that is not yours cannot be detected, so compare it with your wallet.

No. Validation and drawing happen in your browser. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and may show ads, but the address you type never leaves your device.
